KA’UPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii – The Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, which kicks off today, held its charitable contribution check presentation on Tuesday afternoon — celebrating the tournament’s contributions from 2024. Since the Mitsubishi Electric Championship moved to Hualalai Golf Course in 1997, the tournament has donated $2.37 million to local community organizations.

A total of $287,500 was split up among the Rotary Club of Kona, Daniel R. Sayre Foundation, Big Island Junior Golf Association, Pua ka Ilima Historical Surf Park and Hualalai Ohana Foundation.

“We are grateful for the wonderful partnerships and the great work each of these organizations do for the Island of Hawaii communities,” Tournament Manager Kelly Fliear said. “It is always great to see the impact these donations have made since we came to the Big Island in 1997.”

“At Mitsubishi Electric, we know that the strength of our business is directly tied to the vibrancy and success of the communities we work to serve,” said Mike Corbo, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric US. “Which is why our partnership with the PGA TOUR fits so well with our company’s purpose. We are proud to be able to give back to the Kona community through this truly special tournament.”

Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to charity continues on PGA TOUR Champions through their golf partnership. Mitsubishi Electric is an Official Marketing Partner of the PGA TOUR as well as the title sponsor of two PGA TOUR Champions events, the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai and the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. Through both of their PGA TOUR Champions events, more than $5 million has been donated to local charities.

All three rounds of the 2025 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai will be televised live on GOLF Channel, today through Saturday. Fans who are interested in attending the event are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time by visiting MECgolf.com.
